Weekly Update

Good morning Parents and Community Partners,

We have had a great week here at Fort Valley Middle School, and we are eagerly anticipating our upcoming break. Our students and staff have been working extremely hard, and it has truly shown in the progress we are seeing across the building.

🌸 Spring Break

We have all worked hard and are looking forward to a well-deserved break.

Spring Break for students and staff will be Monday, March 30 – Friday, April 3.

We hope this time allows our families to rest, recharge, and spend quality time together before we return for our final academic push.

⏳ 13 Instructional Days Until Milestones

Including today, we have 13 instructional days left before theGeorgia Milestones Assessment System.

The finish line is in sight, and every day matters. Please continue encouraging your students to practice something each day. Be sure to check out our Trojan Testing Tips, which provide simple ways families can support learning and test preparation at home.

🎬 Movie Day – Behavior Celebration

Our 3rd 9 Weeks Behavior Celebration will take place this Friday, and we are getting ready to ease on down the road for a movie experience!

If your child was eligible as of today, they should have received a permission form with all trip logistics and a required parent signature.

Please return forms tomorrow or no later than Friday.

Our students are extremely excited to step off campus for a well-earned celebration, and we are proud to celebrate nearly 300 students who met the criteria.

Congratulations to you and your family if your student is eligible—we are proud of their hard work and positive choices.

🍀 Pathways to Success: Academic Night

Thank you to all of the families who joined us for Pathways to Success Academic Night.

This was our largest event of the year outside of Open House, and it was truly a great time. There was plenty of laughter, learning, and even a little friendly shenanigans between staff and parents.

We appreciate your engagement and look forward to seeing you at our next event.

📊 STAR Assessment Results & Remediation Plan

Our STAR assessment results are in, and we are proud to share that most of our students showed growth—that is something worth celebrating.

However, we do have a group of students in each grade level who need an additional push before testing.

When we return on April 6, we will begin a 2-week targeted remediation periodfor students who:

Do not meet Lexile expectations

6th Grade: 925

7th Grade: 970

8th Grade: 1010

Math students projected to score a Level 1 on Milestones based on STAR data

Students in remediation will have a slight schedule adjustment to allow for more focused, intensive instruction.

If your child is identified for remediation, a letter will be sent home with him or her. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Kimberly Stephensfor more information.

🎨 Trojan Arts Gala (TAG)

What an incredible showing at this year’s Trojan Arts Gala!

Our students truly shined this weekend. From the powerful performances of our band and chorus, to the creativity and talent displayed in our art showcase, FVMS was well represented. I walked away extremely proud, and parents, I hope you did too.

A special thank you to our outstanding teachers:

Mrs. Scott

Mrs. Woodall

Ms. Kilitzian

Your dedication continues to elevate our students and our school.

🎤 Chorus LGPE Success

Congratulations to our chorus students for their performance at LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) last week.

LGPE is a statewide evaluation where music programs are assessed on performance quality and musicianship, with 1 being the highest possible score.

Our chorus earned:

A 2 in sight reading

A 2 for on-stage performance

We are incredibly proud of our students and Ms. Scott for their hard work and commitment. This performance reflects strong growth, and we are excited about what next year will bring.

✨ Winter Formal

Thank you to all of the students and families who came out to our Winter Formal last Friday.

Everyone looked absolutely beautiful and handsome, and it was truly a memorable night filled with fun, music, and celebration.

A great time was had by all!

🌱 Spring Plant Sale – Support Our FFA Program

Our Spring Plant Sale is now underway! 🌼🌿

This is a great opportunity to brighten your home or garden while also supporting our amazing FFA (Future Farmers of America) club here at FVMS.

Available items include:

Seasonal vegetable plants ready for planting

Flowering plants ideal for spring landscaping

Hanging baskets perfect for porches and patios

Ornamental plants to enhance your outdoor spaces

All proceeds go toward supporting our FFA students and their programs, helping them continue to grow, learn, and lead in agricultural education.

Thank you in advance for supporting our students—your support helps our programs thrive!

📱 Keeping Students Safe Online

We are continuing to prioritize student safety in the digital space by reinforcing expectations around responsible technology use at school.

In alignment with Georgia Senate Bill 351, students are not permitted to access social media on school devices or Wi-Fi unless approved for instructional use.

We ask for your continued support in monitoring your child’s online activity at home and reinforcing safe, respectful digital behavior.

Together, we can ensure a safe and focused learning environment for all students.

📘 Yearbooks

Yearbooks are now on sale!

A yearbook is more than just a collection of pictures—it captures the memories, friendships, achievements, and special moments that make the school year meaningful. It becomes a keepsake students can look back on for years as they remember their time at Fort Valley Middle School.
