Media Assistants' Grades
Back toTop

If media student assistants are enrolled in the Driver's Education course, they receive half of their grade from the Driver's Education course and the other half of their grade comes from their performance as assistants in the media center.

Media students will be graded on

  1. Attitude of cheerful, prompt service to media staff and patrons (Cheerful means with a sincere smile.)
  2. Availability and accessibility when sought for help (should be at task stations - circ desk or designated table when not involved in other tasks)
  3. Compliance with media center and school rules
  4. Promptness in the performance of tasks (see list below)
  5. Readings in magazines and books. Two magazine articles a week will be read and recorded and at least one will be posted on web or in local and/or school newspapers each week. Two books per nine weeks will be read and recorded and both will be posted as described above. Criteria for articles and books - They must be interesting to you and they must be available in the PCHS Media Center and they must not be required reading for a class. This is important for two reasons. It is positive PR for the media center and you will be better able to serve the patrons at PCHS.
  6. Self-initiative in performance of known tasks without prompting
  7. Timely arrival to class, departure at appropriate time...and place
  8. Use of good people skills while helping others

Media students must

Always request permission to leave the media center before leaving and should always sign out and have their pass with them

When collecting money from a patron, always turn the money over immediately to a media staff employee in the presence of the patron. A media student should never attempt to access the cash box or add/delete fines for a patron. Ask a media staff employeed to do so. This is for your protection.

Never eat, hang out or watch television in one of the storage rooms.

Never eat or drink in the media center.

Always exit through the double doors in front - never the fire exit door at the rear

Never use any item on a media staff employee's desk with out permission.

Always treat Mrs. Poole's chair and her desk as though they are blazing fire - stay away from them - don't touch them or anything on them...and never, never, no not ever place a food or drink item on her desk.

Store personal items in the bottom two drawers of the filing cabinet in the storage room.
